Geertrui Tavernier is a fashion designer and scientist. With her recently launched label ‘Gertrud’, she aims to create elegant and stylish, yet simple and comfortable designs. Her collection ‘Sei wachsam, du kleiner Igel’ is inspired by all nature’s marvelous creatures. With that, she seeks to awaken a feeling of freedom and passion within the heart of people wearing her garments.
She was born in Belgium in 1985. After living in the little town Roeselare, Geertrui moved to Gent where she graduated as a pharmacist in June 2008. She obtained her doctor´s degree in Molecular Genetics in December 2012. With fashion being her lifelong passion, the move to Berlin in February 2011 enabled her to explore her designing talents. The joy she experienced and the ability to materialize inner dream images, made her decide to focus on clothing design.
